Leadership for Change in the Bereavement Sector Workplace (Toronto Campus, Collège Boréal)

About 

Leadership for change in the bereavement sector workplace is a unique session specifically designed for supervisors and managers.  This training will explore how leaders can build a foundation for a psychologically healthy and safe workplace plus foster resilient employees. Sessions will use an evidence-informed approach and integrate practical case examples specific to the bereavement sector workplace culture.  

This session is available, free of charge, to all Bereavement Sector workers and has been developed in conjunction with the Canadian Mental Health Association, College Boreal and OACFP as a key deliverable under the NSERC Covid-19 Pandemic Research project.   Attendees will earn 3 hours of Continuing Education credit in Category A.  For those wishing to stay for lunch following the session, there will be an additional fee charged when registering for the event.  This conference will be hosted at the NEW Toronto Campus of College Boreal located in the heart of the Distillery District in downtown Toronto. 








Take Aways

At the end of the session, participants will be able to: 

  • Assess how leadership style can impact employees’ mental health. 
  • Learn and work with MHW’s 3-gear approach of awareness, responding and collaborating to help leaders identify and support employees experiencing mental health challenges. 
  • Develop skills and recommendations for organizational practices to create a more inclusive workplace that promotes mental health. 
  • Identify strategies for personal safety and wellness.

Presenter

Pierrick Gacinya

Pierrick Gacinya is a bilingual trainer for CMHA (The Canadian Mental Health Association). Since joining CMHA, he’s had the pleasure of speaking to various people across the province, including high school students, physicians, community health centers, francophone groups and Black lead organizations.  
Pierrick grew up in the Franco-Ontarian community and has extensive experience in advertising and in the public sector. In addition, he has volunteered for many years with the Rwandan Youth Community in the GTA and has worked on other community-based initiatives in Hamilton, Ontario. Pierrick is a dynamic facilitator and brings with him a strong commitment to workplace mental health.

Education Session:  No Charge

Lunch Social @ Mill Street Beer Hall (Optional):  $50 per person

NOTE:  3 Hours of CE Credit in Category A is available for this free education session.
